The Challenge

When a closely-held manufacturing company wanted to respond to interested potential buyers, they faced some difficult problems. Financial statements weren’t clean enough to pass due diligence. The company was not tracking inventory in their accounting system, which made it hard to know the true cost of goods sold and profit margins by segment.

Gose Steps In

We transitioned from cash-basis accounting to accrual, which unlocked more clear and accurate insights. We implemented a process for tracking inventory in the accounting system that provided accurate reporting of cost of goods sold by product and service line and a current view of inventory stock. This led to better pricing decisions and gave potential buyers confidence when analyzing the performance of the business.
